Good reel, but not their best

Shimano makes wonderful reels and all of their products are durable and well made. The Calcutta 200B is no different. The design is good and the reel works well for what does, but for me, the Calcutta isn't as good as some other reels out there.First of all, the spool is very small and doesn't give you all that much line to work with, so if you are fishing for bigger fish, this may pose a problem. Also, with the spool being as small as it is, it limits your casting range as well. I also find that back lashing with Calcuttas is far too easy and it effects the way I cast as I have to be gentle to avoid the back lash. It never fails that when I let loose and try to cast to a fish at the edge of my casting range, the spool unravels and I spend the next few minutes pulling it loose.I will say that this reel does reel very smooth. The gears are built well and there is very little friction when cranking in the line. It is also very easy to take apart and clean if you do that yourself.This is a good reel and the price here is about as good as it gets for Calcuttas. I however prefer the Curado to the Calcutta and after years of fishing with both, will always turn to it. Still, if you like Calcuttas and have used them before, then I'm sure you won't be disappointed by this reel.
