5Bang for the buck
By j4strngs
CAD makes good stuff. While it may not be the most beautiful mic, it's got a good pedigree and sturdy construction.I wouldn't hammer a nail with it, but I wouldn't want to drop it on my foot either. Fortunately, the spring clamp design of the shockmount means that's less likely to happen since there are no cumbersome buckles as on some designs. The large 1" capsule exhibits a pleasing proximity effect in Cardioid mode. There are high pass filter and pad circuits as well as Omni and Figure of 8 patterns. The included spec sheet claims 20Hz-20kHz freq response, which has a slightly lower bottom than what the Amazon product listing states. Comes with a fairly nice soft zipper pouch for storage. I'd expect a box for a mic of this type, but at this price it's worth the tradeoff. If you're looking for an robust versatile inexpensive large diaphragm condenser, this is a good option.

5Great value
By Seph
This mic is much heavier than I expected, which is a good thing. i think it will take quite the beating. The sound quality is fantastic on vocals and acoustic instruments. The selectable cardioid patterns, HP filter, and pad selection are a rarity at this price range, not to mention the decent quality shock mount included.I assume if you are shopping for a condenser mic you already know this, but just in case... All condenser mics require phantom power, so make sure your mixer/interface/etc supply it, otherwise it won't work. Also, my inexperience of patterned mics made it slightly confusing to figure out where the 'front' of the mic was. If you position it with the pattern selection switch directly facing you (or the source of sound) that is the 'front.' I assume now that this is standard positioning, however I couldn't speak to other mics. When in doubt, just record a quick test, turning it 90 or 180 degrees and see which sounds 'right' when you have it set to reject sounds from the rear.I do wish it came with a better case, like my MXL-603 small diaphragm mics came with. The leather (or pleather, not sure right now) case is ok, but provides no real protection from drops, and doesn't house the shock mount, just the mic itself. At this price though, I can't take away a star for that. This mic is well worth the standard asking price, and if you find it on sale like I did, snatch it up!
