Perfect Woodland Boot

I cut firewood on hilly wooded slopes in New England, as such, needed a pair of boots with traction and flexibility. These have Vibram soles which grip wet rocky surfaces. They also have Gore-Tex liners/uppers, are very comfortable from the get-go with little break-in required. As they are already waterproofed, no waterproofing is required at the outset. The boots do not appear to be resoleable but have generally lasted about three years in my experience. The lacing system is very good, secure, does not come loose or untied. I originally purchased Dunhams when they were still made in Vermont, then after they went Chinese, with a different last that did not fit, I switched over to Wolverine and have not looked back since. At $105 to 115 these are a good value for the money.

Nice for the price

To the plus:a) Boots are warmb) Boots are waterproofc) Soles are comfortable on rail ballistd) Soles stand up to rail balliste) SIZES RUN TRUE TO OTHER WOLVERINE BOOTS I OWN. The first week I was thanking reviewers who said, "they run small," and convinced me to go up a half size. Once the boots broke in, I realized this was folly and I would have had a good fit at my normal size.To the minus:a) Insoles are like walking on cardboard and I replaced them with an aftermarket brand to remain nameless inside of a couple of days.b) Really shows the dirt. These boots mark up quick. I know work isn't a fashion show, but I hate looking unkempt. I like these boots and this is the second pair of Wolverine's I have owned. The others are a different style, but held up looking good for a couple of years. I replaced them with a different brand several years ago, but have continued to wear them around the yard. 6 years and they are still waterproof when I spray them off with the hose. If these boots last half as long I may never leave the Wolervirne line again. Buying insoles is annoying, but well worth the trade for the durability at this price.
