This is a Revell Germany 1/72 Scale assembly and painting required plastic model kit of the Heinkel He 70, a 1930's German mail plane and fast passenger aircraft, which also saw service as a fast reconnaissance and auxiliary bomber aircraft with the Legion Condor during the Spanish Civil War. Model kit features: Well appointed cockpit. Clear parts for canopies and windows. Recessed panel lines. Optional two-bladed or three-bladed propellers. Separate rudder part. Detailed under carriage. Illustrated assembly guide. Waterslide decals for three versions: 1) He 170 G-1, high-speed commercial aircraft, Germany, 1935. 2) He 70 F-2, Gruppo 7-G-14, Spanish Nationalist Air Force, 1938. 3) He 170, Reconnaissance Unit, Royal Hungarian Air Force, 1942.

A beautiful plane - initial impressions

This 1/72 scale Revell kit of the He 70 "Blitz" ("Lightning") is graded at skill level 4, so it is definitely NOT a starter kit.The parts are moulded in rectangular sprue frames in a very orderly way, with delicate parts protected by the frames around them. Most, if not all, of the sink holes and other marks appear on the frames themselves, leaving the components unblemished.Three optional variants can be constructed from the kit, a civilian He 70 G-1 (1935), a Spanish Nationalist Air Force He 70 F-2 (1938) and a Radial-engined He 170A reconnaissance plane of the Royal Hungarian Air Force (1942). Although the box specifies four colors of paint to finish the model, you will actually require (depending on the variant), at least the following colors (Revell paint numbers):Common colors - 8, 9, 45, 49, 57, 83, 91, 99, 301, 302, 381For the variants, in addition to the above, you will needA. He 70 F-2 - 360, 362, 371, 382B. He 70 G-1 - 5, 90, 371C. He 170A - 15, 40, 361, 374, 382plus all the glues, varnishes, decal setting solutions, and tools needed for kit assembly.The decals are finely printed and in register.Initial impressions are very good, and I will update my review as assembly progresses.
