For a high efficiency driver, this thing puts out pretty decent low end. That's why I got it in the first place. Unfortunately, as you would expect, it can not copy the low efficiency, high xmax drivers. What I did to optimize was to use an inefficient high xmax dual voice coil driver wired for 2 ohm and this driver in parallel connected to a 1 ohm stable class D subwoofer amp. Then I crossed this driver in with 200 uf (in series of course)... 300 would be better. In this fashion, I approximately doubled the spl of the system without pushing the driver too hard at the bottom and without spending all of the power that the inefficient high xmax driver wants to waste.Being light because of the neodymium magnet is definitely a plus. The cone is paper, but it has a polymer coating which improves the quality somewhat in my opinion. I prefer other types of cones, but it seems that the professional driver manufacturers are just determined to use paper. .. I'm going to have to stop at 4 stars for this reason. They need to offer quality, high efficiency drivers with aluminum cones, or some of the other high quality materials.
