Why do manufacturers do this?

There is only one reason to buy deerskin shoes: comfort. Since there is no such thing as a perfect fit, shoes have to be flexible in order not to pinch or cramp. Deerskin does that, as does the padding in New Balance shoes.These L.B. Evans shoes do have deerskin sides and top. They are thick and sturdy and handsome-looking.However, there is absolutely no padding in the bottom of the shoe and the soles are as hard as boards. This makes the shoes like walking on wooden clogs.Further, they are lined with plastic fur, so that your feet are hot within minutes and begin to swell. So, even if the shoes fit to begin with, they will be too tight and will get tighter as time passes.There is a brand called Deer Stags which I wore for years, and they are quite comfortable. The bottoms are padded and the soles are foam rubber. The soles wear down after two-to-four years, but in the meantime they are a pleasure.Unfortunately, Deer Stags are NOT made of deerskin any longer. They won't say what the mystery leather is, but it is soft, strong and pliable like deerskin. My guess is goatskin. In any case, they are a better bet than these Evans Deerskin shoes.

I purchased these slippers for my husband, last year, for Christmas and he wears them every single day. The leather is super soft, the slippers are warm, but not warm enough that he can't wear socks with them and the style is timeless.I didn't get around to writing a review after I ordered them, but... because they've been worn 365 days... it's time or a new pair. I was very surprised by the only review! I've purchased a number of various brands and types of slippers and these are the best I've found. Don't be fooled... these are wonderful, quality slippers that look and feel great.
