5Long Live Palmolive!
By Amy Steele
Cuts the grease easily, and my hands do not end up lookin' like a Sleestak's (do they exactly have hands, anyway?). Whenever my husband used to slip and purchase Dawn, I would inwardly groan...until one day I just audibly groaned and told him that it wrecked my hands, that Palmolive did just as well if not better than Dawn, and that when I used Dawn I had to replenish my sponge with the Dawn soap about, oh, every fifteen seconds. Palmolive's suds will last ya till doomsday. Plus, my Nana stuck with the same brands all the time, and Palmolive was one of them. Who can defeat the wisdom of a Nana? Oh, and I had a thought about this stuff several months ago (watch out, world)- since this stuff is so tough yet moisturizing, why the heck haven't wildlife caretakers cleaning up oil-swathed critters switched to this brand?! Hey, cleaners of animals after oil disasters: I implore you to just give Palmolive a try and jump off the Dawn bandwagon!Addenda on 9/22/11: About ten years ago, I read an in-depth article in a book on bamboo that stated that just a tiny bit of Palmolive can be added to a certain amount of water (not sure how much; I'm pretty sure it's a lot) and the resulting concoction can be used in lieu of expensive veggie/fruit washes. The study on this homemade wash concluded that it did indeed remove pesticides from produce. For almost a year now I have been making my own produce spray with just a dab of Palmolive, and probably not enough water. The funky-shaped travel spritzer from Target works best if you are in the market for a small spritzer. I am saving money, no one has gotten sick from "soap poisoning" yet (a la Ralphie in "A Christmas Story"), and I have peace of mind.

5It Works.
By Gary Peterson
We've tried any number of dishwashing detergents, and they all have worked to varying degrees. Some are fine, but are harsh on my wife's hands. Finally, we found Palmolive Ultra Original. This one cuts grease, gets the dishes clean with a minimum of effort and is kind to my wife's hands. She still often wears gloves, I might add. In any case, it works for us and we've had no complaints. After buying it in this bottle, my wife decided that she didn't like the looks of the bottle. In stead, she bought a fancy little dispenser that sits by the sink and we bought this same product in a 90-ounce bottle at our local warehouse store. The large bottle is now stored in the garage and anytime our little dispenser gets low we go out there and fill it. Well, that's just a side, this detergent has worked well for us and we will continue to use it. I might add that at least 90% of our dishes are washed in our dishwasher. We use the Palmolive only on kettles, large dishes and other things that require hand washing.Gary Peterson
