Proudly made in the USA, the Machinist round channel vise is designed to handle the most demanding clamping applications. Unlike most vises that have a fixed center nut the Machinist round channel vise nut is anchored at the rear. This rear anchored nut provides straight line pull and even pressure resulting in greater durability. The round channel design also allows for a completely enclosed spindle and nut assembly. This enclosure keeps debris out and lubrication in for a lifetime of smooth operation. The Machinist vise is equipped with main jaws and a machined anvil work surface. The main jaws are made from high strength steel and are fully replaceable.

I just came across this advert for the 5" Wilton "Bullet" vise and I thought I just might help someone decide to spend a lot of money to buy one. I purchased my vise new in 1972 and paid right around $300.00 for it. (I recall some people telling me I was nuts for spending that much money on a vise.) Okay, $300.00 in the early 70's was a lot of money but, I have used that vise almost on a daily basis for well over 35 years and, it has never failed me in anyway. I've not babied the vise either, if a job requires a heavy vise to be completed that's right were it goes. Other than normal wear to the jaws (it still has the original serrated jaws,)and a few marks where I've hit it with a hacksaw, it as good as the day I bought it. I've cleaned and lubed the slide and screw and, painted it a few times, but other than that I've never put a penny's worth of repair into it. I don't know if the new Wilton's are made in America anymore, but if they are I wouldn't hesitate for a second to buy another one even at the current $900.00 price tag. Happy Shopping !
