The Wilton Pipe & Bench Vise is designed to handle the most demanding clamping applications. Unlike most vises that have a fixed center nut, the Pipe & Bench round channel vise nut is anchored at the rear, which provides straight line pull and even pressure resulting in greater durability. Round channel design also allows for a completely enclosed spindle and nut assembly which keeps debris out and lubrication in for a lifetime of smooth operation. For ultimate versatility, the Pipe & Bench vise is equipped with main jaws, pipe jaws and a machined anvil work surface. Self-centering pipe jaws are grooved to prevent rotation of round stock and have a two-step design to assure a firm hold of up to 6in. of pipe safely and securely. Both the main and pipe jaws are made from high strength steel and are fully replaceable. Vise is also equipped with a swivel base with dual locking nuts which allows for a full 360deg of rotation. Both the locking nuts and base have serrated edges that interact positively to assure a nonslip grip when tightened. Main base has four precast holes for mounting the vise to a work surface. A mounting template is included for quick no-guess hole placement for mounting. U.S.A. Wilton 10250 C-2 5-inch vise

I bought the Wilton 10250 C-2 5-inch vise four years ago when Amazon started selling heavy-duty tools and hardware. It was an unbeatable price at the time. As I was moving into my first house, I wanted to get something that would stand the test of time. This vise is made out of high quality steel here in the USA. (There are not many products you can say that about anymore, unfortunately).My intended purpose of use for the vise was to hold heavy-radiused parts securily while wrenching or sawing on them (struts, pipes, etc.) My father has an older medium duty vise that would tend to 'let-go' when you really started working on the piece you were holding - lending to some delicate moments and a few choice words being said. Therefore, I had a general idea of what I was looking for.The vise arrived in good condition, although the box was in a slightly rough shape. However, what do you expect when something weighs over 100lbs and is held in a single cardboard box? Since this vise is so heavy and the work I was planning on doing was somewhat extreme, I chose to mount it with some large 1" bolts & nuts to a custom built workbench (4X4 pressure treated lumber frame tied together with lag bolts with a 3/4" plywood top and middle shelf). The bench I attached it to 250lbs+ bare and holds the vise well.I was not only surprised by the high quality workmanship of the vise, but how smoothly everything operates (to this day). It holds heavy objects as desired, but also holds other 'more delicate' items superbly as well. (1/2" copper pipe for soldering/cutting, 1-1/2" PVC, thin gauge tubing for towel bars). I have never had any question whether the job I was working on was secure or not, and have never had anything 'let-go' unexpectedly. This vise is truely worth its current cost (and at the price I paid -- a true steal).This vise will likely last long after I am gone from this world (although I am only 32 now). If you want to buy a vise to have for the rest of your life (and possibly your great grandchildren), don't look any further your search is complete.
