5Great shoe, but not really necessary for a beginner.
By Elaine
I started climbing only a few months ago and I lost my first pair of shoes (sportiva Tarantulas). Turns out they weren't actually lost: I just left them at the gym and when I went to ask about them, the guy working there didn't check the lost and found and just told me they weren't there. They magically turned up on a day when someone else was working. Whatever, it was an excuse to buy new shoes.Like I said, I'm just a n00b climber (just now starting to climb V2s), and I don't think I really needed this shoe yet: my Tarantulas would have been just fine for another level or so. I feel like kind of a poser showing up to the gym and putting on my tape and fancy shoes and then falling gracelessly off the V2 problems. These Katanas do seem to make it a bit easier to stay on really tiny footholds, and they fit perfectly. They have big patches for the velcro so they can be adjusted based on how swollen my feet are (if I'm climbing morning or afternoon). I don't think you could go wrong by buying these shoes, but if you're a new climber, don't feel like you have to rush into expensive shoes.

5Great shoes
By Joshua Levell
These are obviously great shoes for women climbers (you get what you pay for). They are aggressive enough for those pockets but can still hold their own in "casual" climbing. Great product.

4Good'ish
By Intermediate climber
These shoes started out good but I have a hard foot to fit. I have a long narrow foot & knowing sportiva has a narrower fit I tried this one. It's great compared to my less technical mythos & in general fit better than others for a narrower foot but just has its hot spots mostly b/c I think my feet are so long compared to the width & I pull them tight. Can't go smaller b/c of length. I am in general happy w/ them & seem they're gonna last me a while!
