Does just about everything

Unlike tiny PDAs, this unit has a real keyboard (76% of full-size), and a decent sized, crisp and bright screen (1/2 VGA size). You can really do some work with this thing!It comes with the complete Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Along with many great applications developed by HP for this unit.There is a socket on the bottom for inserting a Compact Flash memory chip (Type I only). This socket is difficult to get to, so it's useful only for memory that you're going to leave in the unit.On the side is a standard, Type I or Type II, PCMCIA card socket.Easy to get to and there are many possibilities for this socket. You could add a wireless WiFi card, a 56kb modem, etc. By using a Compact Flash to PCMCIA adapter, you can use a Type II Compact Flash in this socket. Using this setup, I was able to easily add a small Compact Flash camera, and a second Compact Flash, for backups. A lot of possibilities here.There's a ton of free software out there for this unit. Also a lot of good commercial programs available. Yes, you can even run Linux on this unit. Watch DIVX movies. Sorry, no headphone jack.It's a very well-built unit and just plain fun to play with!Don't leave home without it. But do check the prices on this, as they vary quite a bit. (TigerDirect has them for $99 currently)

Refurbished hand-held computer.

It is an excellent refurbished product. It is all pre-programed and functions very well given that it was designed to be used for a dial-up email serviceand internet.
