Product Description

The Pro Co You Dirty Rat, think early punk. Think about the bands that changed the sound of rock n' roll. The You Dirty Rat combines the sound of the garage with the spirit of inovation. The key to the You Dirty RAT is the germanium clipping diodes. Any pedal aficionado will tell you that nothing compares to the warm tone that these sought after components provide. This pedal is the perfect middle ground between distortion and fuzz, combining the characteristic RAT tone with the warmth of a classic fuzztone. The You Dirty RAT also provides 3db more compression than the original RAT. This not only provides more "tube amp warmth", but adds extra sustain. Distortion and Volume controls dial in the perfect amount of gain while keeping the level consistent with your clean tone. While there is no mistaking hte legendary RAT tone when the pedal is on, true bypass switching guarantees that no extra noise will creap into your signal when it's turned off.

5Awesome Sound... Made in the USA!
By Erik
This pedal sounds great and is extremely versatile. From mild distortion to full blown distorfuzz! It never sounds harsh, or phartty, or icepicky, etc. I love it through my Fender '65 Twin Reverb® Amplifier, Black tube amp; I love it through my ZT Lunchbox 200-watt 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amplifier SS amp.If you are considering the Pro Co RAT2 Distortion Pedal, just spend the extra ten or so bucks and get this one instead. I think this one sounds better (a subjective observation), but this one is made in the USA. It is very high quality. The enclosure seems a little bit dated, compared to the boutique pedals available today. But it feels like it will outlast every BOSS pedal there. If you plan to use a power supply, be warned that it takes a 9-Volt tip positive 1/8" mini plug (like a mono headphone plug) power supply, like the Pro Co RPS-1 RAT Battery Eliminator Power Supply, instead of the more common tip-negative coaxial plug (found on BOSS pedals, Boss PSA-120S Power Adapter, etc). But the maximum current draw is only 2 mA, so 9V battery should last a long time!Buy it... Rock it!

5A versatile little dirt box with great tone
By Michael Coffin
Although ProCo promotes this for its 90's grunge sound, it's much more than that. Dial down the Distortion knob, dial Filter up to 2 o'clock and you get Jeff Beck and John Scofield tones from it. Turn Distortion up to 4 o'clock for thick early Sabbath, and as you dial back on Filter, the tone gets sharper for 80's rock tones. It has been fun seeing how many signatures tones it can produce.Sounds great with my Fender and Marshall amps, using SC or HB pickups. My trusty Monte Allums-modded Blues Driver sounds awful next to this. If you're looking for a versatile dirt box that sounds great and is affordable, you can't go wrong with this one.

5Rocks balls indeed!
By CHUS01 Fan
I can't really say it any better. Sound quality is great. Distortion knob takes you from edge of distortion, to distortion, to fuzzy compressed mayhem. Today I played some Dick Dale, Offspring, Nirvana with it. No, it doesn't sound exactly like anything, but it has a perfect blend of sweetness, power, and trashiness that has me smiling like an idiot. The enclosure is thick steel, folded on what must be a gigantic metal-folding machine and put together in a sort of interlocking design. Very strong and overbuilt, though it has narrow gaps that dust or liquid could possibly get in. The battery door has a thumb screw. No tools needed to change batteries, and I've been running it weeks on the same battery so far. It has a nice calm red LED, stage-ready.
