THUMPS LOUD for LESS

I have an SWR Goliath Jr. III 2x10 cabinet, and one of the original PAS drivers blew in it. I couldn't find a replacement PAS without paying thru the nose, so my options were reconing or replacing it entirely. After nearly pulling the trigger on a reconing kit, I contacted an engineer at Eminence, as I had read that some people had replaced their drivers in similar cabinets with Eminence speakers. He was really helpful and suggested the Eminence Delta B10 as a replacement, as it's a 16-Ohm speaker and if you're pushing an 8-Ohm, 2-driver cabinet in parallel, this is what you'd want.After searching around, I found this deal on Amazon, and it was the least expensive (but NOT cheap) option, even better than reconing, so I went for it. Talk about a no-brainer! I don't even know why I was so worried at first, I guess I just wanted to make sure it was what I needed and would sound good in my cab. This speaker sounds fantastic! It's actually better than the other remaining PAS, so I kind of can't wait to blow that one so I can replace it with another one of these babies! I should also note that I did not have to modify the cabinet to fit this little sucker either. It fits beautifully in the cab like it was made for it.Nice, punchy highs and mids - just what you want in a 10" speaker. Pushes air with ease, sounds great, and for the price it's a STEAL (PLUS no tax, and I got mine the very next day with no shipping fee. Thanks, Amazon Prime!). Trust me, if you're looking for a nice replacement for a 10" driver in your bass cab, you won't be disappointed with this one.

Great speakers - volume and sound

I used these speakers to replace the original Paragon speakers in my GK 1001RB 2x10 bass guitar combo. One of the original woofers in my combo ripped right off the frame, and the other was soon to follow, so I rolled the dice on these as replacements.I swapped the speakers out, turned on the amp, and was blown away by the sound. Not only were they louder than the Paragons at a lower volume setting on the amp, but they sounded better too. They have great low range for bass guitar, and can easily handle the lowest frequencies I could dish out. (I play a 5-string) Cone movement was good, with decent throws, but the cones weren't visibly tearing themselves off the frame. All in all I'm very happy so far. I'm a semi-pro musician that rehearses and gigs frequently, and I rely on this combo for both settings. These speakers have bolstered my confidence in my gear.I have given 4 stars only because I don't know how these will perform as time goes on. They are brand new right now, and will probably last a long time, but that remains to be seen. So far, so good, though...

Hello Reader,I needed to simplify the vocal monitor setup for our church folk group which consists of five singers - each with their own vocal mic, two amplified guitars, electric bass, unmiced drum kit, and sometimes an unmiced grand piano (instead of the first guitar/group leader).The five singers share two small vocal monitors. Only recently did we experiment with the addition of a side-fill vocal monitor located in the back of our staging area so that the drummer, bassist, and occasional pianist could hear the vocalists better.We encountered connection problems due to the design limitations of our powered mixer - which had just one power amp rated at 300 watts into a 4-ohm minimum impedance, matching the speaker load of our two small wedge monitors, each loaded with an 8-ohm 10-inch speaker.Our side-fill monitor thus had to be powered. I, the bassist and volunteer soundman at our church, had some extra bass amplification gear to use as the powered side-fill monitor (small bass amp head with an extension speaker cabinet, or a small bass combo amp).I wanted to simplify our setup (by eliminating a power-strip for AC, an extension cord for reach, and a long 1/4-inch signal cable to connect my bass-amp/powered monitor to the main line-out of the powered mixer) with an unpowered side-fill monitor which would only work if I replaced the speakers in the two small vocal monitors with 16-ohm 10-inch speakers.I am so happy to have found the Eminence Delta-10B 16-ohm speakers. Installed in their wedge-shaped, walnut-veneered particle-board cabinets, they sound very good (warm and clear) and are almost as loud as the 8-ohm Scorpions that they replace.For the unpowered side-fill monitor, I'm using a small home-built extension cabinet equipped with a 10-inch 8-ohm Scorpion speaker. The new 10-inch Eminence Delta-10B speakers are very natural sounding with almost as much upper mid range as the 10-inch Scorpions that they replaced. Luckily our powered mixer has a 7-band graphic equalizer which is nice to have in order to mildly boost the upper-mids of the Delta-10B's to keep the singers happy!I should mention that none of our three vocal monitor speakers use piezo tweeters or compression driver horns. Besides the one-way 10-inch speakers already mentioned, we did try a one-way home-built wedge enclosure loaded with a 12-inch D120F, stood vertically on its end for our side-fill rear monitor, but it was too loud!My 4-star rating reflects the 3-lb weight gain due to the speaker swap, but I suppose this isn't all bad as we sixty-somethings will get in better shape when we move (two trips!, one at a time!) our pair of Eminence Delta-10B loaded, 33-pounds weight, heavy-duty 350-watt vocal monitors in church each Sunday.Thanks for reading to the end of my review.
