Exactly what was needed

The tools are great. Was able to trace 2 cables to their ports and really speed up my cable building.Don't use the punchdown tool but if I need it it is there.Tool bag holds everything and has room for cable ends and any extra gear I need.

Great for homeowners

My house is wired with a home distribution system that allows for changes to the routing of video, audio, and ethernet. Unfortunately, every time that I need to make a change, I had to call a technician who had the proper tools. I got tired of paying $100 every time I wanted to change something and I so I started looking at what tools I needed and how to use them.I found a number of useful websites online and Youtube videos explaining what each tool did and how to use it. Amazon doesn't allow me to post links here, but if you Google "swhowto" (or just type those letters and add .com to the end), you'll find a number of resources that explains the tools you need and how they work.I found that there are a number of companies that make tools for this purpose. Since I don't do this for a living and I knew that the tools wouldn't get used all that much, I focused more on value. Paladin makes a number of different reasonably priced kits, and after exhaustive research, I settled on this one. Fluke Networks also makes tools, but they appear to of significantly higher quality (and also more expensive).This kit includes:1. A wire cutter- to cut wires2. A coax stripper- used to make the ends of TV/Coax cable suitable for adding a connector.3. A network cable stripper- used to make the ends of phone/network cable suitable for adding a phone or network plug.4. A universal crimper- used to squeeze a coax screw connector and/or a phone/network plug so that it will stay on the end of a coax or ethernet cable.5. Die Sets- these are installed into the crimper so that it can be used on coax or ethernet.6. Punchdown tool- used to punch wires onto a wire block or onto the back of a a wall jack. Although it has the ability to impact, I find that its easier to just push on the cable until it seats. If you actually punch it down, it will often damage the modern blocks, which are somewhat fragile.7. 110 Blade & 66 blade- these are blades that are installed into the Punchdown tool to match the size of the holes on the block. They are different sizes, and it is important that you have a blade to match the size used on your block. 110 and 66 are the most common, but there is also another version8. Coax/Network Cable Tester- used to test network cable or coax cable to make sure that it is wired properly and not damaged.9. A Tone generator and banana probe- used to locate/identify which wire goes where.10. Various connectors and adapters for #8 and #9.11. A RG45 Adaptor that will allow you to plug-in a network cable and then access each of the eight individual wires for testing without cutting off the end of a cable.11. A very nice tool bag and box.The only thing that this kit doesn't have that I recommend is the Paladin Tools 4599 SurePunch Pro Detachable Light and Batteries. It costs about $15.00 and allows you to add a tiny flashlight to the punch down tool, which is often very helpful because all this equipment tends to be installed into a dark closet
