5Former Level 10 gymnast, now "Coach" to a 5-y.o...
By Marisa
I purchased two of the 4x6-foot mats for my 5 y.o. son after reading the reviews. However, keeping in mind "if it looks too good to be true, it probably is," I maintained healthy skepticism until the mats' arrival, as the price seemed impossible for the quality advertised by the seller and supported by reviewers.I received them today, and the quality - upon first sight and tumble - is fantastic. (Given I spent 30 hours/week in a gym throughout most of my childhood, this is one of the few areas where I have some opinions backed by real experience.) :)These mats would have cost a fortune back in the day, and still do if purchased from more well-known gymnastics equipment suppliers. My only caveat would be for large gyms with many, MANY rec students or programs that have a large number of Level 8 and above gymnasts: for these few situations, it might make more sense to purchase mats from one of the big brands, as the one potential concern I have would be the long-term durability of the outer covering under ridiculous stresses. These mats have only three panels, and while the covering would certainly not be considered "loose", any covering that isn't extraordinarily strong and with airtight adhesion to the underlying padding will eventually become a problem with enough beatings and/or lacerations (e.g., from hard landings or insults made by clothing or accessories worn by less-serious pupils). For anyone else - preschools, home gyms, start-up programs w/o deep pockets - these are beyond perfect.Additionally, when two sets of mats are folded up, they have more than sufficient thickness and firmness (i.e., there is no cheapness to the padding that results in "sinking") that they can be utilized for a number of other applications, such as step workouts, physical therapy exercises, plyometric training, etc. The Velcro ends also appear to be very well constructed.

5GSC Expando Supernova Mat
By Cheer Mom
I purchased the GSC Expando Supernova Mat for my daughters who are 12 and 14. The mat is to practice their cheer tumbling. The mat arrived very quickly. It is an excellant quality. I wasn't sure if I should go with the 8' or 12'length but ended up with the 8' and this is perfect. My 14 year old is 5'4" and has plenty of length to do her back handspring. This mat folds up to a nice size and actually fits under a futon that we have in the basement. We also believe that this mat will work well on the grass outside in better weather. Excellant value and highly recomment.

I bought this for home so my daughter can practice back bends. Great product, perfect size. She can fold it herself and move from place to place. Great price, too
