The GE IM6 Automatic Icemaker Kit is electronically operational and comes equipped with a new plastic feeler arm. This General Electric IM6 Kit produces crescent shaped cubes and hooks up to the plumbing line in your house to provide fresh water for ice cubes. The water-fill valve of the GE ice maker replacement supplies household water to the ice maker. The ice maker begins to eject the ice cubes when the water tray thermostat senses that the tray reached a certain temperature. This replacement icemaker can be used for residential and commercial applications.
The GE Refrigerator Ice Maker will replace applications where the icemaker is mounted on the left wall of the freezer. This GE icemaker replacement kit is compatible with all GE/Hotpoint top mount refrigerators. The kit comes complete with the ice maker, valve and bucket. It can be installed in most side-by-side and top freezer refrigerators. The on/off switch stops cube production and the anti-jamming feature causes jammed cubes to melt away.

Works great, easy instal

I ordered this unit to put in a GE refrigerator that did not contain an ice maker. The installation was not very difficult. It took me an hour or so to install (I was not rushing). It has been working great. It makes a great amount of ice in a short time. I am very happy with my purchase.

It Works

I ordered this model because it was the one listed in the Owner's Manual. lt turns out you can use the newer model (IM6, I believe) but it may or may not have some design/manufacturing flaws depending on what you read. Either way the unit works great and was easy to install. All of the parts I needed were included (even a few that I didn't need because they came with our refrigerator).The only complaint I have is probably more a design flaw: the ice tends to overfill the bucket until it overflows. It could be an install error on my part I suppose but there isn't too much room for error.
