One of the best 28mm wide angle lenses available

The Zeiss Ikon 28mm f2.8 T* ZM Bigon lens is a Zeiss-designed, Cosina-built lens for the new Zeiss Ikon rangefinder camera. It is a new Biogon design that is similar, but not identical, to the Contax 28mm f2.8 T* Biogon lens made for the Contax G-Series autofocus rangefinder cameras. It has been rated as an exceptional lens by a Japanese photography magazine, offering performance that is comparable to the Leica 28mm f2.8 Elmarit-M lens but at nearly half the cost of a brand new Leica lens (It has the same 46mm filter thread shared by the latest, current version of the Leica lens.). Furthermore, Erwin Puts has independently tested this lens and have found it to be optically as superb as the Leica 28mm Elmarit lens (For more details look at his Zeiss Ikon lens reports posted at www.imx.nl.). I look forward to adding this lens to my 35mm rangefinder kit, since I have found quite valuable the 28mm f2.8 Biogon Contax G-series lens which I still own (Indeed, I rank the Contax G-series lens nearly as fine a lens as the 28mm f2 Summicron ASPH; I expect a similar level of performance from the new 28mm f2.8 Biogon ZM lens.).
