A work of industrial art and built to last

The interior of the stainless steel top looks like a polished piston head rendered in gleaming solid stainless steel.I'm somewhat astonished they can sell this product, made of these materials and made in the USA, at this price. Simply outstanding.It's more expensive than the polypropylene plastic cheapies, but this will last forever and will likely outlast one's house. Plastic units can leak/crack pretty easily if over-torqued, and they have plastic threads, as well. Plastic threads suck.If you're trying to reduce the amount of plastic chemicals you drink, this is one of the only tickets, as well. It's more durable, withstands higher temperatures, and is most likely healthier.Note that this is not a massive filter housing; we typically use units 2-3x taller and 2x the diameter for whole-house applications, especially ones that pull off a well. For municipal water, this filter size should be fine. Aqua-Pure makes a unit that's 2x taller, also in stainless steel. For some reason, unfortunately that unit costs more than 2x the price; this makes even less sense given that the head is by far the more complex component and is the same on both units (the body is thinner and similar to a tougher version of the stainless steel water bottles that are common these days.)I'd use this size for an under-sink filter, and it seems to fit most brackets just fine. It's like a Seagull IV filter, except hidden out of view, a much better value, and compatible with industry-standard filters that you can buy anywhere and customize to your water needs.The only minus is that the included "wrench" only acts on one part of the sealing ring. A better wrench would wrap around the unit and act on two of the attachment holes at once (somewhat like a crescent wrench). Not a huge deal. Hopefully, replacement o-rings aren't too hard to find or substitute for in the future.
