5THE BEST SUB
By Cade Bromley
I am a big fan of bass. When I was deciding on which system to choose, it took a lot of calls and a lot of research for me to choose what I wanted. I wanted as much CLEAN bass as possible. First you have to know that theres different kinds of bass. A cheap sub or pair of subs will give you loud bass that can be heard a long way away, but doesn't necessarily sound great in the car. A high-end sub by JL Audio will be heard a mile away, and will give you DEEP bass that sounds great, and you will feel it-it will rattle everything in the car including you. In order to attain clean deep bass, you need only one of the JL 13W7 subs. If I was to turn my 13W7 all the way up, it would be hitting at nearly 150 decibles. The bass that this sub puts out lets you here things in songs that you have never heard before. Also if you get the JL 1000/1 amp, the tuning of the sub and amp combo are endless, giving you the perfect bass that YOU want. Also, 1 JL 13W7 with the right amp will hit like two 15 inch subs. The 13W7 is the real thing, it's loud, it looks good, and it's reliable. This is the best sub out there right now, no other sub gives you the amount of clean bass as the JL 13W7. In my opinion, the price is well worth it if you want the best subwoofer in the world. REMEMBER-If you are serious about having this much bass you have to know the following--#1. If you get the JL 13W7, you SHOULD wire it to the JL 1000/1 amp. This amp will give the perfect amount of power to the sub, while running reliable (1000 watts rms). For this 13W7 to truely work at its potential, then the JL 1000/1 amp is a necessity. JL engineered the 13W7 and the 1000/1 to work perfect with eack other. #2. Be careful with the wiring kit that you use. Most people will tell you 4-guage is fine, but I've heard a coupe stories where it didn't hold up. I went with 2-guage from Power Acoustic, and so far it's been great. #3. Remember what car you are putting this system in. If it is a Suburban, then fine. But if you try to put it into a small car, then you have to think about a compacitor. Some will say you don't need a cap, because the JL 1000/1 amp is so advanced, that it basically regulates itself, well this is true, but I still got a 5 farad cap from Power Acoustic. My car is a Toyota, and since the alternater is so small, it is hard for the alternater to support the system when it is really hitting at a high level (Aspecially with lights on or the AC on). A cap will store energy, and when the bass hits, the amp is pulling from the cap, and not directly from the alternator. (Most small car alternaters are 90 amps, but a larger car like a Suburban is 120 amps). AC uses about 45 amps, and headlights uses about 25 amps. And the bass from the system will hit at about 80 amps if its turned up. So now you can see why you don't put your AC on at night with your bass blasting. Also be careful on putting this sub in a trunk of a car. One guy put 1 JL 13W7 in a trunk of a Lexas, and since the sub has to breathe and have so much air, the panals of the car were exspanding an contracting, making the paint chip on the car. #4. Dynamate. You WILL need dynamate where ever you put your system. I don't have any in my car, but I am already strarting to hear things come loose, and starting to hear a difference in bass quality. Dynamate will give you bettter bass with any system. #5.A lot of bass is one thing, but a great system separates a lot of rides. If you want the whole thing, then go with a component system up front, and a couple speakers in the back (or another component set in back if the car is big). It will make a huge difference, factory speakers are not good enough. There are so many options on who to go with. I got Alpine, and they sound amazing. Theres also Polk, but Alpine has some great stuff out right now. Also, you will probably need a small amp of about 150 watts rms to run the component speakers. With this you will now have a lot of bass, but will still be able to hear the words. #6. Get a nice enclosure. Putting your sub in a good box will give you better sound and more bass. I got the JL ProWedge box with the 13W7 already in it (sealed at the factory, check JL's website for pics). This makes it good because then you know the sub is fit to the factory specs. Also, my sub can hit at around 143 decibles, but if you get a ported box, then the sub can hit at 148 decibles. #7. Get a good deck. A good cd player as the the head unit is vital. This is because you will find yourself constantly adjudsting the amount of bass that you feel like. I got the nicest Alpine you can get without a dvd player (450.00). This deck gives me an unlimited amount of options and looks good. #8. Don't ride with your windows up (mainly in an SUV). When the bass and volume are up, and the system is hitting, the pressure is so great inside, that a window will explode. Always ride with two windows 1 1/2 inches down.----------------The JL 13W7 is the ultimate in sound. But it is for the person who is going to go all out, which means getting the JL 1000/1 amp and a nice enclosure. The price is high, but it is worth it because the system will be putting out a lot of sound for a long time if it is put together right.

5BUMP BUMP
By Suprisingly enough....
Ok i wont lie... if you "like" bass.. this is not for you but if you you "LOVE" bass, dont be stingy buy this! i dont care if your on a budget..save your money and buy this! you wont be looking for a new one anytime soon.. i got 2 of these and that was a mistake because 1 would have quenched my constant search for better woofers easily.. i put this is a vented box and my eyes definately hurt after using it. not to mension i almost [...] myself and im running it off of a 1000 watt JL amp.. the quality of JL has always impressed me and when they say theyre woofer can take a certain amount of wattss..IT CAN and much more.. as far as bass the only subwoofer that can compete is the Orion HCCA wich will actually take more watts that the w7 but its really really hard to tell wich is louder... i would LOVE to see someone with each in a competition... THIS IS A GOOD BUY

5Best Subwoofer money can buy.
By Carla Pierce
I bought this subwoofer because I am a man that looks for quality. JL Audio is American made and has always made quality products. I look for nothing but quality and paying this price is excellent compared to $1,300 it generally is sold for. I figured I would give it a shot and I was more than satisfied. I linked this up to an Alpine PDX M12 (1,200 Watt RMS) and that has worked better than anything I have ever heard. Alpine generally makes the best amplifiers. If you do everything right and don't cut corners, this is the BANG for your buck.

5TOUGH AND EASY TO USE
By Good Stuff Cheap
This is one tough radio. Easy to use with large cleary marked controls. Seems resitant to abuse. Settings such as volume, headband fit, band (AM/FM)and station can be changed while wearing it. It has large controls that can be felt and accessed with it on. Comfortable padded ear pads and a bright color make it perfect for the active person that just wants to listen to the radio while outdoors without the cost and worry of an expensive fragile device.

4Easy Does It
By Shawn K. Hall
Our Oskar Multimedia Storage Cabinet arrived in a timely manner and was in very good condition. My husband assembled the unit with ease, until it was time to nail the card board backing on. Following the instructions he laid the unit down on it's face, of course the kick-board had already been added so it didn't lay flat. When nailing on the backing the "J" board (the center shelf holding the entire unit together) split at every point of contact. We had ordered our Oskar Storage Cabinet through Amazon, directly from Ritz Camera. So, naturally I called Ritz to replace the "J" shelf. I was informed I would have to return the entire unit. I immediately pictured myself trying to get all those shelves back into the box and figured that was more trouble than I wanted to go through. So, I tracked down the number for Oskar and called them directly. They were very efficient and helpful. Within minutes I had their assurance that they would ship a new "J" shelf to my home - at no additional charge. The shelf arrived within the promised ten-days.This unit was exactly what we ordered and works well for it's intended purpose. I would caution you to be very careful nailing on the backboard, so as not to split the center shelf. My favorite feature of the Oskar Multimedia Wood Storage Cabinet is that they include plenty of extra shelves, unlike so many other brands. I have an entire stack of shelves that I can add as needed. I would love to have three or four more of these units.

5Mr. Organized
By Richard Sosnoski
This storage cabinet arrived well-packed in a heavy box. It went together in 15 minutes quite easily. Since the base extends out further than the rest, I would suggest laying the unit flat across a workbench or table with the lip hanging over so you can easily nail the 2 backing pieces on. Started with 2 and am sure I'll be adding more.

3If I hadn't bought all those CD's I'd be able to afford real furniture.
By lighten_up_already2
Update 12-30-2009Hey, it comes unassembled through normal use!Today I pushed it back from the wall to access the outlet behind it, and eventually found no fewer than seven of the smooth little silvery nails in the carpet by the wall, and the back panels coming off!It turns out that every time you put a CD back and you push a little on the back panel, it pushes the back panel out a bit, so over time the little silvery nails work their way out. With each nail that works its way out, the next one works its way out even quicker, leading to a cascading failure of the back panels, which are responsible for much of the structural integrity of this "furniture".So, I just went over the whole back side and renailed it with with one inch panelboard nails. These little nails have small heads and little ribs so they don't come out so easy.If you buy a new one of these, consider buying separate, better nails before you even start putting it together.-------------------------------------------------------------------------Yes, that's the ironic thought that popped into my head as I finished building this massive monolithic altar to twenty years of misallocated cash. Here I am putting together furniture that could just have well been presto logs that I paid a little over a hundred dollars for in order to hold a collection of 1080 CD's which if bought new at $12.00 each would be almost $13,000 or enough to fill the entire room where this thing now resides with fine furniture made of real wood, with a real finish of real varnish, etc.Anyway, it took my wife and I about two hours to put this CD shelf together. It wasn't difficult; there are just a lot of shelves and things that need to be put together with a piece of furniture this size. (I really would like to see someone put this together in fifteen minutes!)There are a couple of "gotchas" that the instructions don't tell you about. First, the eight screws that go in from the bottom don't screw in flush with the wood; they stick out. Bad news if you're not putting this on top of a carpet. I had to improvise a bit (with a large drill bit, as a matter of fact) and take off just a bit of the sawdust, er, wood at each screwhole so that bottom screws would screw in all the way and the bottom would be flat.Second, there's the nailing on of the back piece where you flip the unit over with it not laying flat on the floor and start pounding nails. As at least one other reviewer has pointed out, this is a great way to break the middle shelf. Thankfully I saw this coming and put some books under the middle shelves befor I nailed on the back pieces. And now that it's completed I can't wait to gather up all the CDs from where they're squirreled away and put them on this storage cabinet. I'll have them all in one place, and they'll cover up all the obvious clues that this is a really cheap piece of furniture.Well, I got what I paid for, and for sheer clutterbusting alone it's a pretty good deal. So far so good.
