Sturdy & Secure Bicycle Transportation

This rack is well constructed; made from heavy walled tubing producing a confidence inspiring tool for transporting large and/or heavy bikes.The clamp assembly features soft rubber-like inserts on the upper and lower surfaces which work well to protect the painted surfaces of the bikes. (It is important to keep these inserts clean as dirt/debris can easily be embedded in the rubber, causing a "sandpaper-like" effect). The knobs used to tighten the clamp are easy to use and friendly to the hands. (Warning-Don't forget to replace the clamp assembly after removing your bikes....if you leave the clamp related parts on your bumper or tailgate, they will likely be lost before you reach your next destination!)With the bikes removed, the rack folds well out of the way of the tailgate on my vehicle which allows me to leave the rack in place even when not in use. The rack is well painted which alleviates concerns of premature rusting issues.While the rack is designed to carry three bikes, I find that two road bikes fit very well if placed on the rack in opposite directions. This prevents the drop handle bars from contacting one another. To place a third bike in the middle slot would be possible, but VERY cozy.The height of the rack allows me to carry not only my road bike, but a larger beach cruiser style bike as well. Using an older rack with a lower mounting height made it nessesary to remove the front wheel of the cruiser bike. The Swagman rack being taller allows me to leave the wheel in place.Overall, the rack is well designed, constructed and finished....and while racks of varying designs, at various price points are available, this product performs well for my purposes.

Nifty bike rack

This is a great bike rack if you have a hitch.. Slides over existing hitch so you can tow and carry the bike. largest part removes, so hitch only has small attachment on it when you are not using the bike rack.. Very useful item

Solid product

I was looking for a bike rack that allowed me to still have use of the hitch for towing. This product is very strong and sturdy, holds the bikes solidly, and they survived transport without a scratch. I could tell by the photo, I would need an extended hitch, which I thought I could easily buy. None of the hardware/trailer supply stores carried it, so I ended up later having to order. So recommend you order an extender/longer hitch.

Another great tool from Dewalt

This is a powerhouse - We set lots of concrete anchors 3/8 to 5/8" - The tool is rated at 1 1/8" but we find that using this size drills our smaller anchor holes fast in hard concrete. Using a tool at it's limit is a bad idea. This drills holes to 3/4" in hard concrete very fast and is light enough to be easy to carry up a ladder.I have tried the next size smaller tool. It is OK too but this one seem worth the little bit more money for a professional that uses it every day.

sturdy and affordable

very sturdy built, holds both bikes securely, easy to install using receiver, not quit as easy using bumper as can't use tailgate and must be unbolted after use if you need access to open tailgate on a regular basis, had to get frame adapters for both our bike due to curved frames , wouldn't need to on most men/boys bikes , but they were cheap,only $15 each and installed on bike very quickly and easily, my husband was quit amazed at how securely it held the bikes, have no fears of using on long road trips/vacations, received just a few days after ordered

The right tool for the job.

Sometimes you get just what you need. What I mean by that is the Swagman 64095 rack does the job better than more complex, and more common racks which swing down to allow the rear door of SUV style vehicles to be opened while the rack is in place. The reason is simple. I needed a rack for a car, not an SUV. Car trunk lids don't open outward, rather they tend go upward which allow most car trunk lids to open while this rack in place. The rack can also be easily stored in the trunk if desired. I should mention that I happen to have a spare ball hitch that wasn't being used. If I hadn't had the spare hitch, it would have necessitated an extra $20.00 to $25.00 expenditure to be able to use this rack. It is extremely ease to use this rack...the perfect tool for my bike transporting needs.

Ball mount bike racks getting hard to find!

I've carried bikes many different ways over the years. I first had a trunk-mount made by Graber that worked OK, but i got tired of always re-tightening the straps. Also, I felt it just looked UGLY on the back of my car!Years later I upgraded to a Yakima roof-top system that looked really cool, but involved lifting heavy mountain bikes above my shoulders and precisely fitting the forks into the skewer bar and bike tray. While great for an upper-body workout, it was the last thing I wanted to do after biking for a couple hours. I believe my gas mileage was suffering somewhat from having this rack on the top of the car and the icing-on-the-cake was an unfortunate incident involving my bike and a garage(not the rack's fault -user error, but you get the point).Enter the Swagman 2-bike ball mount bike rack. I already have a hitch and 2" ball mount on my car for hauling a small trailer(trucks/suvs aren't the only vehicles you can tow with -within reason, of course). The thing I like about a hitch mount is that the bikes are BEHIND the vehicle so you don't have to worry about what's on TOP of you and I doubt it creates any extra wind resistance. Finally, the rack is easy to put on/take off and fits comfortably in my trunk for when I'm not hauling bikes.I like the construction and the welds seem very robust. There is a small key-lock integrated into the tightening collar on the top so you can somewhat secure your bikes even without a cable lock or padlock(there are holes on the top plate to utilize those if you desire). My only quibble is the lack of a reflector or high-visibilty sticker on the top for safety reasons(i just think anytime you have something sticking-out from the back of your vehicle you should call it out). I can fix this myself, though. Also, the rack is fixed meaning it doesn't bend down to make clearance for a liftgate or tailgate. Not a big deal on a car with a small trunk like mine, but could be a deal-breaker on a van/truck/suv.Jae
